STORY OF MY LIFE

---Neither by actions nor by progeny and wealth, but by renunciation alone is immortality attained.

I dedicate this article to the defense families of India.
Part I:

Cute Anusha in Delhi
Time to reminisce the memories of my childhood. Initial 12 years of my childhood was with mamma since papa was in defense forces. We definitely missed dad’s love, care. Every day I asked mamma when papa is coming back and she always avoided our question but used to say pretty soon, could witness the agony in answering us in mamma’s eyes. Unfortunately, “pretty soon” was once every six months as we realized that later. It’s not just my family but all the families, especially kids, experience the same situation but it’s more intense with defense families.
Back in those days we did not have mobile phones with (forget about) skype or whatsapp, landlines were the only means of communication. We couldn’t reach him, no matter how hard we cry, but there was an alternative way through letters. I remember writing letters to Pappa asking him of his arrival and making a huge list of gifts 😊. Thus, not 1 or 2 years ago but 15 years back writing habit was instilled in me.  We eagerly waited for his call and had the privilege of talking to him once in 15 days. It's actually unexplainable through words how much we missed being with papa as days passed by.Mamma made sure to listen to news everyday on army and  we used to get frightened of the situations occurring in the border.Whenever he visited us once in six months and that one month vacation felt like heaven, fun filled moments.
Every morning, during his one month vacation, he starts with 100 kisses and papa did count every kiss😊 and once we get back from school we shared interesting things happened at school and played basketball ,soccer with him for the rest of the day. He also taught us karate since he was a black belt champ. When the day to adieu him came, we always requested him to extend his stay which never happened. After dropping him off at the railway station and we used to cry until his train left.
Days passed by and papa took voluntary retirement to stay with us. Small family was very content spending time together, enjoying his retirement.
