ABRUPT END -Story of an excruciating engineer
“Everyday is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday’s success or put its failures behind and start over again .That’s the way life is, with a new game everyday and that’s the way every game is”
Starting full time job in one of the world’s leading electric car manufacturer was overwhelming, certainly everyone’s dream to land in so called MNC’s and one of the preposterous decision I have ever made.Specially was thrown in a desert where you get to see batteries more than people ,for the first time ever felt so lonely because of the place .
I am so grateful to my friends in the oasis who eliminated the agony I was facing in the beginning .
“Work is worship”-In this world of intellectuals felt like a simple minded and unintelligent ,since this was so called the “first job” .Slowly built up the self confidence to get along with the geeks .As time passed I became nerd and workaholic much like everyone (one among the flock of sheep) but was totally perplexed with the responsibilities/duties because neither it was my cup of tea nor my passion was! But to the exterior world only thing mattered was brand of the company, nevertheless no one ever took the courage to ask whether I was happy or not .Of course I was happy because I was part of the sustainable energy revolution but not with the kind of work.Slowly got acquainted with initial phase of cross functional duties which made me capable to handle the arduous tasks .
Today layoffs have become a default response to an uncertain future marked by rapid advances in technology, tumultuous markets, and intense competition.
I totally agree with the companies policies on how they try to keep up often making changes that are disruptive and painful.Typically ,they turn to episodic restructuring but in this process employee engagement diminishes. I never expected this would be such a catastrophic ending to this story.I always wanted to be a part of revolutionary phase of automobile industry and transform world into sustainable energy.Indeed it was a melancholic phase for me to digest the fact that I was no longer part of the revolution .Definitely was mournful ,broken-hearted for two-three days and then I challenged myself to land into another better opportunity .Those 2-3 months was under the process of restoring my confidence with abundance of energy to kick start new way of looking at things.
“Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough”
Wow!! Its just astonishing to see how people thrive and work for their dreams to come true. You are an solid example of one.Working in Tesla is a dream for many the engineers across the country, and you made sure you did everything to achieve it.it just shows your approach, determination towards your goal. The best part is that you have never given up .Each and every end will definitely have one beautiful start.I wish you all the best for your coming years!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks much Nikhil. Yes every end has a new beginning 😊
DeleteWell thought excerpt there! I liked how clearly you focused on the experience. Its a shame in my view, to have experienced apathy from co-workers. Its demotivating and belittling at the same time. But well ended with an amazing quote! (y)
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
Thank you Aditya.
DeleteCompetition that breaks you down, brings you to your knees, is no competition at all. It is supposed to improve and enhance your persona, make you a better version of yourself. Doing things "hard" has become the norm these days, study hard, work hard, party hard they said. But why would you like to do something hard? Why not make it easy and enjoyable? If something you are doing is enjoyable, the perception of time diminishes. The same thing that felt punishing a moment ago, now feels pleasurable. And everybody is unique, otherwise there would not be so many people required in this world. I feel, it would be stupid of a fish to try and act like a tiger, because then it will not be able to comprehend the dangers of the jungle and the beauty of the world underneath sea is beyond the comprehension of the tiger. Be yourself, because that is what you can best be. Learnt this at a great price, giving it out for free :) . And always remember, sometimes destiny frees your hand at a very appropriate time so that you can hold something that is meant for you and only you with both hands. And come on, how boring life would be, if not if not for some suspense and uncertainty. To sum it up, Anni akkade untai, maname vethukovale.....
ReplyDeleteInspiring post! It will definitely give some hope and optimistic thoughts to people who are going through similar situations :)
